9 Amazing Wedding Ceremony Backdrop Ideas
She’s back! One of our favorite DC Planners, Janice Carnevale of Bellwether Events is back with some beyond fabulous wedding advice. The last time she made a visit to Venue Safari was with her 2 part series on planning an at-home wedding (Part 1 & Part 2). Follow Janice on Pinterest for more great wedding finds and ideas. Enjoy this post about unique wedding ceremony decor:
One of the biggest benefits of Pinterest that I have found is being able to compile different ideas for decorating a wedding ceremony area. Couples who are not in a house of worship for their wedding ceremony are often stuck on how to decorate for their wedding ceremony, as they are often working with a mostly blank slate. And certainly there are tons of ideas out there, so it’s important to consider your theme, but also to consider the scale of the décor that you are planning.
The use of simple fabric across this tree is fabulous. It is appropriate to scale, simple, and yet really impactful to the eye.
I also love these paper flowers attached to this large tree. Make sure you know how to attach them without damaging the tree. When using a large tree like these first two ideas as the focal point of your ceremony, also consider whether the photographer can get far enough from the tree to capture a wide shot.
In this photo you see two bookshelves that are filled with family photos, mementos and heirlooms. The bookcases are to scale and I can’t imagine a better way to personalize your wedding ceremony area.
If you are having a quirky or offbeat wedding, this asymmetrical design would fit in perfectly. I also love the end table used – it makes the event feel more personal than a standard 3’ round table rental with a linen would.
I love the balloons in this photo. They are turning the whole ceremony area into an architectural feature. It is whimsical yet structured and I love it.
Not to leave out all the couples who marry indoors but not in a church or temple, we have this stunning ceiling installation featuring hanging votives and flowers.
This indoor installation has a very emotional and romantic impact on the ceremony space. A huge roll of paper and someone with great handwriting is all you need – in addition to the pipe or pole to hold it up.
This bunting is awesome because it is at the right size and height to be in your photos, and it is an easy way to add a lot of fun and excitement to your ceremony space. Your guests won’t be able to stop smiling when they see these flags in your ceremony space.
Finally, if you have a backdrop like this, nothing is needed.
