Charm City Gets A New Luxury Hotel: Four Seasons, BaltimoreBaltimore, Maryland
Finally! Thanks to luxe hotel chain Four Seasons, Baltimore, aka Charm City, finally has a luxury hotel to call it’s own. And luxe it is – perfect for brides seeking a waterfront venue that combines spectacular views with the signature high-touch, discreet service Four Seasons is known for.
Located in the city’s chic Harbor East neighborhood, Four Seasons Baltimore finds itself in good company – stores like Urban Chic and South Moon Under vie with restaurants like New York Times-acclaimed Charleston for space, and the John’s Hopkins Business school is just steps away.
Spacious and airy, the hotel offers a vibe that’s more upscale modern boutique than traditional luxury. Lines are sleek and art is minimalist and architectural in nature. The hotel boasts the designation of having the city’s largest hotel art collection, much of which stems from the Washington Color School.
Ceremony and Reception
Choose from a number of event spaces, most all with panoramic water views, in which to hold your ceremony and / or reception. In warm weather, start on the outdoor pool deck overlooking the Inner Harbor. The area can be tented to accommodate rain showers. If you’d prefer not to take the risk of heading outdoors, opt for event spaces with floor-to-ceiling glass windows offering similarly spectacular water views and hallways already adorned with some of the area’s best artists. The dramatic curving staircase with hand-blown Murano glass lighting makes a spectacular entrance area for the bride and groom as well as an ideal location for photographs.
Many brides will want to opt for the hotel’s grand ballroom, the hotel’s only non water-view meeting space. The large space can be divided into as many as three smaller spaces, all of which can easily accommodate a dance floor and ample seating. Newly-designed air walls look like actual walls, which will help eliminate costly decorating, and gorgeous chandeliers lend the luxe glow one would expect from Four Seasons.
But where’s the water? Don’t fret. The area just outside the ballroom features massive windows and can be reserved for a lovely cocktail hour as the sun sets. Savor passed hors d’ouerves like Lobster “BLT”s, Parmesan Risotto Arancini and of course, Maryland Crab Cakes before enjoying tapas stations and Chesapeake Bay seafood bar stations or plated entrees like local Rockfish, slow-braised short ribs or Dijon-crusted rack of lamb.
Smaller weddings can occupy any of the waterfront meeting spaces.
Room with a View
The thoughtfully-designed hotel ensures that 85% of 250-some rooms on property feature water views, so there’s nary a bad spot in the house. If your guests love luxe, we’d opt for the Serene suites, featuring a large fireplace and ample living area. All rooms feature Nespresso machines, complimentary Internet and access to the spacious spa and fitness center.
Your Rehearsal Dinner or Morning-After Brunch
Host your guests for a farm-to-table inspired dinner in Michael Mina’s first Wit and Wisdom Tavern. The star chef behind restaurants like BOURBON Steak has helped design a menu that’s inspired by the area’s freshest local meats, fish and produce. The rustic yet elegant setting is ideal for groups. While the restaurant doesn’t offer a dedicated private dining space, the rear of the restaurant is separated by a half-wall and offers a modicum of privacy.
It would be simple to host a morning-after brunch in the same space, or opt to use the catering menus and host a simple buffet affair with dishes like warm mini doughnuts with dipping sauce and a New York Bagels spread and Mimosa/Bellini or Bloody Mary bar in one of the waterfront event spaces.
Your Primp and Pamper Time
Lucky you – the hotel has one of the best spas we’ve seen in awhile. The 11-room facility offers a large water circuit including plunge pool, experiential shower, steam and sauna, large relaxation facility and extensive treatment menu that ensures that you and all of your maids can primp and pamper as much or as little as you’d like. Of course, if you’d like to indulge with your soon to be Mr. or Mrs., there’s a couple’s room available.
